Wood, Pioneers split XC meet

WINCHESTER- Millbrook and James Wood split a Northwestern District dual cross country meet on Wednesday.

Millbrook's girls edged James Wood 27-28, and James Wood's boys defeated the Pioneers 17-38.

Millbrook seniors Crystal Nelson and Karly Knechtel swept the top two spots. Nelson finished with a time of 21 minutes, four seconds, and Knechtel followed in 21:34.

Millbrook's Sophia Lee (sixth, 23:05), Brooke Hagenbuch (eighth, 23:58), and Simone Jarvis (10th, 24:44) rounded out the team's scoring five.

Amber Hawkins (21:56), Samantha Ratcliffe (22:24) and Madeline Long (22:39) finished third, fourth and fifth, respectively, to pace the Colonels. Molly Farinholt (seventh, 23:45) and Daniele Ray (ninth, 24:20) completed the Colonels' top five.

James Wood's Joe Davet took first place in the boys' race, finishing with a time of 18:05. The Colonels' Danny Aldstadt (18:21) finished as the runner-up, and Luke Farinholt (19:01) followed in third. Dylan Wilson (19:12) and Blake Armstrong (19:32) finished fifth and sixth to complete the Colonels' top five.

Warren Ramirez (19:05) paced the Pioneers in fourth. Max Bader (seventh, 19:32), Jacob Lusk (eighth, 19:37), Nathan Burgreen (ninth, 19:37) and Cal Lockley (10th, 19:40) rounded out the Pioneers' team scoring.
