Wood's Rockwell ties for 37th at national golf tourney

CHAMPIONSGATE, Fla. — James Wood junior Brayden Rockwell tied for 37th out of 94 players in the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour Boys’ 16-18 National Championship held Saturday and Sunday at the ChampionsGate Golf Resort.

Rockwell recorded rounds of 84 and 75 for a 15-over total of 159. Three players shot a 148 to lead the way.

Rockwell qualified by tying for second at the Mid Atlantic Fall Junior Open at the Stonewall Golf Club in Gainesville in September (a 42 for nine holes and a 74) and tying for third at the College Prep Series at UVA at the Birdwood Golf Course in Charlottesville in July with a 10-over-par 152 (79-73).

Rockwell tied for 19th during the fall Virginia High School League season with a 4-over-par score of 76 at the Williamsburg National Golf Club in October.
