WINCHESTER -- Often meaningless before a pitch has been thrown, the early-season expectations for James Wood -- as they were last Tuesday -- haven't always been so high.

Before the Colonels' trip to the Region II tournament in 2007, the team had been beset by losing records. But last year they repeated the achievement, crafting the makings of a regional tournament streak.
