All-Conference 21: Baseball

Millbrook outfielder Conor Hartigan received Player of the Year honors and Ryan Kennedy received Pitcher of the Year accolades as the All-Conference 21 West teams were announced Thursday.

Pioneers’ Hartigan, headed to James Madison, Kennedy, headed to Kennesaw State, and Nate Jaye each earned two selections on the first team. Hartigan made it as an outfielder and designated hitter, Kennedy at pitcher and first base and Jaye at outfield and utility.

Sherando placed three on the first team with shortstop Frank Ritter, outfielder Adam Miller and third baseman Pearce Bucher. Handley outfielder Cam Bentley also made the first team.

Sherando had five selections on the second team with first baseman Ravyn Rouse, outfielder Myles McPartland, utility Hunter Entsminger and pitchers Miller and Entsminger. Millbrook placed three with catcher Kyle Keenan, second baseman Bailey Collins and third baseman Gavin West. James Wood had two selections with outfielder Ben Russo and pitcher Joel Smith. Handley also had two with shortstop John Rosa and designated hitter Cam Mintz.

Harrisonburg’s Kevin Tysinger was Coach of the Year.

Handley placed forward Saber Ali and midfielders Chris Nerangis and Erick Velasquez on the team. Millbrook netted midfielders Paul Blanco and Darin Douglas along with defender Zach Hicks, while James Wood had forward Aidan Houser and defender Liam Ebert.

Three area schools had three picks on the second team. Sherando netted midfielders Nic Craig and Nathan Wagner along with defender Jacob Sites. James Wood netted midfielders Paul Ebersole, Xavier Kallash-Kyler with keeper Ethan Russell, while Millbrook had forward Ronald Velasquez and defenders Kevin Valyear and Hans Kloo. Handley defenders John Avant and Tyler Heglas also made the team.
