James Wood boys open tennis season with sweep of Clarke County

BERRYVILLE — The James Wood boys’ tennis team defeated Clarke County 9-0 in the season opener for both teams on Friday.

The Colonels (1-0) won five matches by the score of 8-0 over the Eagles (0-1), with Noah Borromeo (No. 2) Chase Messick (No. 4) Stew Brondstater (No. 5) each winning by that score in singles. Evan Dokken won 8-1 at No. 1, Trent Richards won 9-7 over Isaac Knittle at No. 3, and Cole Creamer won 8-2 at No. 6.

In doubles, Dokken-Borromeo won 8-0 at No. 1, Richards-Messick won 9-7 at No. 2 and Brondstater-Creamer won 8-0 at No. 3.
