James Wood softball player Boone signs with Eastern Mennonite

James Wood softball player Rebecca Boone signed to play with NCAA Division III Eastern Mennonite University in a ceremony at the high school on Wednesday.

A first baseman for the Colonels last year, Boone batted .403 (27 for 67) and had 23 runs, 21 RBIs, 16 walks, nine doubles, and one home run. Boone was a second-team Class 4 All-Northwestern District selection.

Eastern Mennonite is located in Harrisonburg and competes in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. The Royals are coming off a 2018 season in which they went 21-19 overall and tied for sixth in the ODAC with a 7-11 record.
