Colonel boys, girls third in meet

NOKESVILLE — The James Wood boys and girls each took third place in a five-team meet at Brentsville on Wednesday.

In the boys' competition, Kettle Run scored 155 points and the Cougars were followed by Meridian (136.5), James Wood (114), Brentsville (96) and Manassas Park (95.5). Meridian won the girls' meet with 140 points and was followed by Kettle Run (139.5), James Wood (121.5), Brentsville (109) and Manassas Park (80).

James Wood boys' leaders: Jorel Baltimore (first in 110 hurdles, 16.83, and 300 hurdles, 46.27); Trey Guyyn (first in discus, 137-9); Duncan Stanton (second in 110 hurdles, 18.05 and 300 hurdles, 47.71); 4x400 (Ivan Andrews, Zachary Harrington, David Cottingham, Connor Kenney-Fitzner), second in 4:02.58.

James Wood girls' leaders: 4x100 (Isabelle French, Nadia Elias, Olivia Boyce, Megan Vreeland), first in 53.86; Boyce (second in long jump, 15-7, and triple jump, 31-10); Alexandra Van Meter (second in 100 hurdles, 18.45); Mallory Juvinall (second in 800, 2:37.46); 4x400 (Kirin Nashed, Alexis Brown, Sophia Logan, Emily Morgan), second in 5:04.74.
