Wood grad Brooks keeping St. Thomas near the top

5c412a773bff3.imageMIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — James Wood High School graduate Keiana Brooks is having another strong season as the St. Thomas University (Fla.) women’s basketball team looks to make a second straight appearance in the NAIA Division II national tournament.

A junior guard, Brooks has started all 20 games for the 15-5 Bobcats, who are tied for second in The Sun Conference with a 7-2 record.

Brooks is averaging 3.7 assists per game (second on the team), 4.4 rebounds (third) and 8.0 points (sixth). Brooks’ season-highs are 14 points on Dec. 1 against Thomas University in Georgia, 10 rebounds and seven assists on Dec. 28 against the University of the Virgin Islands and seven steals on Dec. 8 against Johnson & Wales University in Florida.

The Bobcats are next in action on Saturday against Florida Memorial University.
