WINCHESTER — James Wood could not overcome a rough first half in a season-opening loss to Central.

The Colonels trailed 32-11 at the half, but rallied to within 51-43 with just under three minutes remaining before the Falcons pulled away down the stretch.

Josie Russell (17 points) and Nayah Edwards (16) each had career-high scoring totals for the Colonels. Russell added five rebounds and three steals.
