COLONELS IN 4TH AT WALTERS

WINCHESTER- The James Wood wrestling team currently sits in fourth place and Sherando is ninth after the first day of the two-day Willie Walters Tournament at James Wood High School.

The Colonels will have six wrestlers competing in today's championship semifinals, while the Warriors have three.

James Wood's Jimmy Woznak (106 pounds), Taylor Swartz (113), Jaime Walton (152), Chris Ewing (160), Daniel Funkhouser (170) and Mark Bean (220) will be joined by Sherando's Jacob Guthridge (113), Gabriel Mead (170) and B.J. Askew (285) in the semis.

Sherando's Kyle Vangel (120), Colton Simmons (126), Jose Maravilla (132), Luis Santos (138), Philip Hamilton (182) and Travis Ritter (220) will all be competing in the consolation round of the tournament.

Both Handley's Jordan Dowrey (285) and Randy Repass (138) advanced into today's semifinal round. The Judges' Coby Pitcock (160) and Sean Bridgeforth (126) will both be competing in the consolation round.
