WRESTLING - Colonels in 2nd at Walters/Copp tourney

WINCHESTER — Host school James Wood is in second place to lead all local teams after the first day of the Willie Walters/Jaye Copp Holiday Invitational, which took place Monday.

Eastern View leads the 17-team tournament with 84.5 points. James Wood has 75.5, Sherando is in fourth with 63, Clarke County is in fifth with 59, and Handley is in 13th with 39.

Action will continue today at 9:30 a.m.

Each local school still has multiple wrestlers alive in the championship semifinals. For James Wood, they are: Aaron Black (113 pounds), Matt Artrup (120), Jimmy Woznak (152), Ryan Funkhouser (170) and Hunter Bentley (182); Sherando: Anthony Damico (113), Mike Duffy (120), Curtis Guthridge (126), Mike Borst (170) and Ben Avery (285); Clarke County: William Heath (152), Bryan Wallace (182), Logan Withers (195) and Mark Alexander (220); and Handley: Dolan Delaney (160) and Tommy Shea-Roop (220).
