Wood finishes 3rd at Champe Cancer Classic

ALDIE — Matt Papastavrou and Bailey Eichelberger each won titles to help James Wood take third place at the nine-team John Champe Cancer Classic on Saturday.

Papastavrou won at 152 pounds, and Eichelberger claimed the title at 170, leading eight Colonel wrestlers who placed in the top four of their respective weight classes.

Other Wood wrestlers finishing in the top four included: Corey Lemons (126 pounds, second), Luke Roy (195, second), Josh Arce (113, third), Jared King (220, third), Aaron Curd (138, fourth) and Jack Youngblood (160, fourth).

Freedom won the team title with 190 points. Langley (139), James Wood (134), Champe (132) and West Springfield (103 1/2) rounded out the top five.
