James Wood Hires Two Head Coaches

WINCHESTER — James Wood has tabbed two current assistant coaches to fill two head coaching vacancies. Brian Sullivan has been named as James Wood’s new boys’ soccer coach while Todd Baker has been named the school’s new softball coach.
Sullivan is a math teacher at James Wood who also has served as an assistant boys’ soccer coach for the past four years. In addition, he serves as a coach for the Winchester United travel soccer program. Sullivan played soccer in high school as well as one season at Slippery Rock University.
Baker is a 1986 James Wood High School graduate who has served as an assistant softball coach at his alma mater for the past four years. He has also coached for 12 years in a variety of travel and recreational softball leagues. In 1985, Baker was a member of James Wood’s state runner-up baseball team.
Sullivan succeeds Matt Dunsmore while Baker succeeds Ted McDaniel. Dunsmore coached James Wood’s boys’ soccer team for two years and led the Colonels to a 9-24-2 record. McDaniel coached the James Wood softball team for 14 years and accumulated a record of 94-185.
