FRONT ROYAL — Sherando junior Brett Loy shot a 4-under 67 to win by one stroke Tuesday at the 12-team Skyline Invitational held on Shenandoah Valley Golf Club’s Blue and White nines.

With a four-player score of 307, Sherando finished second behind Loudoun Valley (289). The Vikings were led by Brandon Weaver (68) — the 2014 Group 3A state champion who beat Loy at the season-opening Curly Licklider Invitational at SVGC — and Ryan Hammer (71), who defeated Loy in the two-day Bryan Gunter Invitational held at SVGC and Winchester Country Club. (Weaver did not play in the Gunter.)

Clarke County senior Brendan Ciaburri placed fourth behind those three with a 74.

Also shooting counting rounds for Sherando were Josh Hogue (sixth overall with a 76), Mason Scott (80) and Josh Bianco (84).

James Wood placed third (319). The Colonels were paced by Hunter Hall (78), Ben Marsh (78), Tyler Mounts (81) and Zach DeNitto (82).

Dominion followed in fourth with 324 points, and Clarke County, led by Brendan Ciaburri’s 74, placed fifth with a score of 329.

The Eagles’ Cameron Scheib (78), Eddie O’Leary (87) and Raul Viza-Fernandez (90) rounded out the team’s scoring.

Handley placed seventh with a 339 and was paced by Gregg Burton (78), Colleen Connolly (83) and Nick Mitchell (87).

For Millbrook (ninth with a 347), Ryan McCarty shot an 81 and Andy Kim fired an 84.
