Colonels Hand Clarke Girls 1st Loss, 44-36

BERRYVILLE — The James Wood girls’ basketball team defeated previously undefeated Clarke County 44-36 Saturday to earn a split of their regular season series in a non-district game.

The Colonels (9-3) rallied from a 12-8 deficit after one quarter, then pulled away in the fourth quarter after leading 30-29 after three quarters.

James Wood was led by Keiana Brooks (12 points, five steals, four assists, two blocks), Dani Rizzari (12 points, three assists, two steals), Grace Greene (seven points, 15 rebounds), Morgan Duncan (11 rebounds) and Sarah Johnson (seven rebounds, three blocks).

Clarke County (15-1) was led by Anna Blue Catlett (12 points, two blocks), Sydney Chrane (10 points, nine rebounds, four steals) and Mackenzie Kibler (15 rebounds).
